Richmond has game two of its three game set hosting Durham tonight at the Diamond. Kevin Barry (3-5, 3.36) will go for the Braves against Doug Waechter for the Bulls. Richmond has won four in a row and is now 42-69 on the season.
Francisley Bueno pitches tonight for the Braves in game one of a five-game set in Montgomery. Bueno is 1-4 this year with a 3.70 ERA. This will be his 11th start of the season. He'll face big Jeff Niewmann, one of the Devil Rays' top prospects. The Braves are 17-23 in the second half, seven games back of Jacksonville in the Southern League's South Division.
The Pelicans will try to bounce back after the loss Thursday night to Salem as they host the Avs tonight at 7:02 at Coastal Federal Field. Steve Russell (3-0, 4.20) will go for Myrtle Beach against Astros' prospect Jimmy Barthmaier. The Pelicans are 21-18 on the season in the second half (56-53 overall) and 4.5 games back of the Avalanche in the Carolina League's Southern Division.
Rome will send lefty Beau Jones (4-3, 4.50) to the hill as they continue their road trip in Lexington. The Braves are 17-22 and 13.5 games back of the Augusta Greenjackets, who are running away with the Southern Division for the second half.
Tommy Hanson (3-1, 2.61) and Kyle Cofield are on the schedule to pitch for the Braves tonight as they continue their series with Pulaski. Danville is 26-16 on the season, three games up on Burlington in the Appy League's East Division.
The GCL Braves lost to the Yankees this afternoon in Florida 7-4. Yeliar Castro started for the Braves and allowed four runs (one earned) in two innings. Steve Kent took the loss giving up three runs in four innings. Rubi Koko hit two solo home runs for the Braves.
