Minor League Preview - Wednesday August 9

The Braves Show's Bill Shanks takes a look at today's schedule around the Braves' farm system.


RICHMOND

Richmond goes for its third win in a row tonight playing in Norfolk at 7:15. Either Kevin Barry or Jason Shiell will pitch for the Braves, who are 45-70 on the season and 23.5 games back of Charlotte in the International League's South Division.

MISSISSIPPI

Francisley Bueno goes for the Braves tonight as they too go for win number three in a row. Bueno is 1-5 on the season with a 3.98 ERA. The Braves are 20-25 in the second half, six games back of Jacksonville in the Southern League's South Division.

MYRTLE BEACH

The Pelicans have a double-header with Kinston starting a 5:02 this afternoon at Coastal Federal Field. James Parr (6-6, 4.47) pitches for Myrtle Beach in game one against Charlie Lofgren. Moises Hernandez will come out of the Pelicans' bullpen to get a few innings of work and start game two for the Pelicans, who are 22-20 in their second half of the season and four games back of Salem in the Carolina League's Southern Division.

ROME

Rome will try to snap a two-game losing streak as they send lefty Beau Jones to the hill tonight in West Virginia. Jones is 4-3 on the season with a 4.65 ERA. The Braves are 19-25 on the season and 14.5 games back of Augusta in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.

DANVILLE

Tommy Hanson, who has been outstanding all season, will pitch for the first place Danville Braves as they play in Bluefield tonight at 7:00 pm. Hanson is 3-1 on the season with a 2.38 ERA. The Braves are two games up on Burlington with a 27-20 record on the season.

GCL BRAVES

The GCL Braves will have lefty Steve Kent (1-3, 3.54) on the mound in Tampa this afternoon as they play the GCL Yankees. The Braves are 18-22 and 8.5 games back of the Tigers in the GCL North.
