Minor League Preview - April 19

The Braves Show's Bill Shanks previews today's action in the Braves' farm system.


The Braves beat Louisville in eleven innings Thursday afternoon on a throwing error by former Atlanta farmhand Aaron Herr. Willie Harris was up with the bases loaded and reached on Herr's throwing error, which scored T.J. Bohn and the Braves won 3-2 at the Diamond.

Barbaro Canizares knocked in two runs for the Braves in the eighth inning to tie the score at 2-2. Yunel Escobar had another big day for Richmond going 3-for-5 with a triple. Bohn added two hits on the day as well.

Macay McBride, demoted to Richmond last weekend, pitched two innings and allowed a run. McBride walked one and struck out four. Manny Acosta got the win for the Braves. He's now 2-0 on the season.


Dan Smith will be on the mound for the Braves tonight at West Tennessee. The lefty is 1-1 this season with a 0.90 ERA in his first two games of the season. He'll face right-hander Doug Fister, who is 1-0 with an ERA of 3.00. The Braves are 9-4 after the loss to the Diamond Jaxx Wednesday night.


Myrtle Beach takes on Kinston tonight at 7:00 pm. Jake Stevens will try to continue his good work as he starts for the Pelicans. Stevens is 1-0 on the season with a 0.90 ERA in his first two starts. He'll oppose Indians' lefty Ryan Edell (0-0, 1.80). The Pelicans are 7-6 on the season, a half game out of first place in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


Rome visits Asheville tonight at 7:05 pm ET. Jamie Richmond is scheduled to start for the Braves, who are 2-12 this season and 11 games back of Augusta in the Sally League's Southern Division.
