Minor League Preview - May 16

Here's today's preview of the action in the Braves' minor league system.


The Braves play game two of the four-game series against Rochester tonight at 7:00 at the Diamond. Buddy Carlyle (5-1, 2.37) will try to snap Richmond's two-game losing streak. The Braves are 24-11 and in first place in the International League's South Division, with an eight and a half game lead on the Durham Bulls.


The red-hot Mississippi Braves (27-12) play an afternoon game in Birmingham. Kelvin Villa (3-2, 4.96) is on the hill for the Braves, who have won five in a row and are now six games up on the Jacksonville Suns in the Southern League's South Division.


The Pelicans finish up the series in Potomac tonight starting at 7:35 pm. Lefty Jake Stevens, having a solid season at 3-2 with a 3.51 ERA, will get the start. Myrtle Beach is 17-21 on the season, 5.5 games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


Rome will send Deunte Heath and Kyle Cofield to the mound tonight as they start a four-game series in Charleston. The Braves are 11-27 on the season, 17 games back of Asheville in the Sally League's Southern Division.
