Minor League Preview - May 21

Here's the schedule around the Braves' farm system for Monday.


The Braves and Yankees of Scranton Wilkes-Barre play game three of their four-game series Monday night starting at 7:00 pm. Kevin Barry (1-0, 2.70) will pitch for Richmond against right-hander Eric Junge. The Braves (27-13) have lost two in a row but remain in first place in the International League's South Division, nine games up on the Durham Bulls.


It's the last game of the series between Mississippi and Tennessee tonight at 8:05 pm ET at Trustmark Park. Lefty Kelvin Villa (3-2, 5.26) will go for the Braves against right-hander Sean Gallagher (5-2, 3.50). The Braves are 29-15 on the season, five games up on the Jacksonville Suns in the Southern League's South Division.

Matt Esquivel continues to be one of the top stories in the Braves' farm system this year. He's first in the Southern League in home runs (11) and runs batted in (38).


After a day off Sunday the Pelicans start a three-game set with Winston-Salem tonight at Coastal Federal Field. Right-hander Dustin Evans (1-3, 5.27) will go for Myrtle Beach. The Pelicans are 19-23 on the season, 7.5 games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


Right-hander Tommy Hanson hits the hill for the Braves as they start a four-game series with Savannah. Game time is 7:00 at State Mutual Stadium. Hanson is 1-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.14. His 55 strikeouts are tied for second in the league. The Braves are 12-30 on the season, 17.5 games out of first place in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.
