The Braves are off today. They will start an eight-game road trip Thursday in Pawtucket. Richmond remains in first place with a 37-26 record, six and a half games up on the Durham Bulls in the International League's South Division.
It's a chance to clinch today for the Mississippi Braves. A win for them at home against Mobile and a loss by Jacksonville will give the Braves a first-half division title. Francisley Bueno (2-2, 3.00) will pitch for Mississippi. The Braves are 40-25 on the season and have been in first place since April 22nd. They have lost three games in a row but are still four games up on the Suns in the Southern League's South Division.
The Pelicans play a doubleheader with Salem this afternoon at Coastal Federal Field. Chris Vines (0-0, 14.54) goes in game one for Myrtle Beach against right-hander Brad James (7-1, 1.98), while the Pelicans will pluck Adam Stanley (1-1, 6.48) out of the bullpen to start game two against Avalanche lefty Chris Salamida (4-3, 3.14). Myrtle Beach is 28-35 on the season, still 13 games back of first place in the Carolina League's Southern Division.
