Richmond has won two in a row and is now 40-28 on the season, still 6.5 games up on the Durham Bulls in the International League's South Division.
Lefty Matt Harrison goes for the Braves tonight in West Tennessee. Harrison is 5-2 on the season with a 3.31 ERA. He's allowed only five earned runs in his first three starts this month (2.46 ERA), with two walks, and ten strikeouts. Right-hander Andy Baldwin (1-7, 5.38) goes for the Diamond Jaxx.
Mississippi won last night and is 1-0 in the second half. They won the first half of the season with a 42-28 record.
Moises Hernandez will represent the Pelicans tonight in the Carolina League / California League All-Star game tonight in Stockton, California. The game will start at 10:35 pm ET. Hernandez leads the Carolina League in wins with 9 and has a 3.35 ERA in 13 starts.
The Pelicans start the second half Thursday in Salem. The Pelicans are 6-11 so far this month.
The South Atlantic League All-Star Game will be held tonight in Rome at State Mutual Stadium. It's the stars from the Northern Division versus the stars from the Southern Division. Game time is 7:30 pm.
Pitchers Deunte Heath and Kris Medlen and outfielder Concepcion Rodriguez will represent the Rome Braves in the game. Tommy Hanson was selected but will not play due to back spasms.
Rome gets back into action Thursday when they host Charleston to kick off the second half of the season. The Braves had won four in a row to end the first half and are 10-6 in the month of June.
The 2006 Appalachian League Champion Danville Braves kick off the season tonight at Dan Daniel Park with lefty Jeff Locke on the mound. The 19-year-old lefty from New Hampshire was 4-3 last year in the Gulf Coast League in ten games. He had only five walks and 38 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.
The Gulf Coast League Braves play in Lakeland this afternoon to start the 2007 season. First baseman Freddie Freeman and third baseman Jon Gilmore are two players to watch from this year's draft on the GCL roster.
