Minor League Preview - July 19

Here's today's schedule around the Braves' minor league system.

RICHMOND

It's the series wrap-up with Columbus tonight at the Diamond for the Braves, who have lost two in a row and are now 52-42 on the season. Right-hander Lance Cormier (2-1, 5.10 ERA) is scheduled to go for the Braves. Cormier had his best start of the year last time out pitching seven shutout innings. With Kyle Davies struggling, another solid start by Cormier tonight could put him in the mix for another callup to Atlanta. Richmond's lead over Durham is now down to two games in the International League's South Division.

MISSISSIPPI

The Braves play Jacksonville in game two of the five-game series Thursday at 8:05 pm ET at Trustmark Park. Mississippi lefty Matt Harrison (5-5. 3.27) will face right right-hander Justin Orenduff (5-3, 3.72). A couple of Braves hitters have hitting streaks – Brandon Jones a 16-game hitting streak (24-64, .375) and Carl Loadenthal has a 13-game hitting streak (20-50, .400). The Braves are 11-16 in the second half, eight games out of first place.

MYRTLE BEACH

The Pelicans go for win number four in a row and the sweep this afternoon in Wilmington. Right-hander Deunte Heath goes for his second win with Myrtle Beach. He's pitched eleven innings in his first two starts in High-A. He'll face phenom Rowdy Hardy (11-2, 2.13), the league leader in wins and ERA. Myrtle Beach is 14-10 in the second half, a half game back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.

ROME

Rome has won the first two games of the four-game series against Asheville at State Mutual Stadium and game three is tonight at 7:00 pm. Right-hander Jamie Richmond is scheduled to start for the Braves. He's 4-4 on the season with a 3.21 ERA. Richmond has a 5.71 ERA in three games in July. The Braves are 11-15 in the second half, six games back of Charleston in the Sally League's Southern Division.

DANVILLE

After splitting a doubeheader with Princeton on Wednesday, the Danville Braves start a two-game set in Burlington tonight at 7:00 pm. Danville southpaw Cole Rohrbough, who is second in the Appalachian League with a 0.89 ERA, will pitch tonight along with William Ramirez. Danville is in first place in the Appy League's East Division with a 17-9 record, a half game up on Burlington.

GCL BRAVES

The Braves are in Lakeland this afternoon at noon to face the Tigers. The GCL team is 6-20 on the season, eleven games back of first place in the GCL's North Division.
