Minor League Preview - April 11

Here's Friday's schedule around the Braves' minor league system.

The Braves will hit the road for the first time this season and take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Yes, the IronPigs. It's the newest franchise in the International League, taking over for Ottawa. They've got a brand new $49 million stadium in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately for the home fans, the IronPigs are 0-8 so far this season. Damian Moss will make his first start of the season for the Braves. He's 1-1 on the year with a 7.36 ERA. Right-hander J.D. Durbin (0-1, 8.10) will pitch for Lehigh Valley. The Braves are 5-2 on the season.

After winning their first game of the season Thursday, Mississippi will play game two of the series against Mobile tonight at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Todd Redmond will make his second start of the season for the Braves. He'll be opposed by Mobile right-hander Hector Ambriz. Mississippi finally scored some runs, getting five on Thursday. They had entered the game Thursday with only 12 runs in the first six games of the season.

The Pelicans finally play their home opener tonight at Coastal Federal Field as Frederick comes to the Beach. Right-hander Kyle Cofield (0-1, 9.00) will get the start for Myrtle Beach against right-hander Brandon Erbe (1-0, 0.00). The Pelicans are 4-3 so far this season.

The Braves open up a series in Charleston Friday night with lefty Eric Barrett (0-1, 2.25) on the mound. Rome is now 4-4 on the season after beating Columbus Thursday night on a Freddie Freeman base hit in the 8th inning. The RiverDogs will send Adam Olbrychowski to the hill against the Braves in the series opener.
