Minor League Preview - April 14

Tommy Hanson is on the mound for the Pelicans tonight. Here's the schedule around the Braves' farm system.

RICHMOND

The Braves go for win number seven in a row when they face the lowly Iron Pigs tonight at 7:05 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Buddy Carlyle will pitch for the Braves. Richmond is 8-2 on the season and is one game up on Charlotte in the International League's South Division.


MISSISSIPPI

The Braves will try to turn things around on the road as they start a five-game series tonight in Birmingham against the Barons. Mississippi sends lefty Dan Smith (0-2, 8.10), while the Barons will pitch Clayton Richard (1-1, 4.00). Mark Jurich is one Braves' player hitting well. He has an eight-game hitting streak after his 2-for-2 game on Sunday. Jurich, the Braves' right fielder, is now hitting .278. The Braves are 2-8 on the season.


MYRTLE BEACH

The Pelicans will try to snap a two-game losing streak as they host Winston-Salem for the first game of a three-game set at BB&T Coastal Field. Game time is 7:05. They're sending the right pitcher to the mound to try and break a losing streak. Tommy Hanson will go tonight for the Pelicans. Hanson has not allowed an earned run in 11 innings so far this season. He leads the Carolina League in strikeouts with 20, and has allowed only one hit and walked only three. Myrtle Beach is now 4-6 on the season, 2.5 games back of Salem in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


ROME

The Braves have lost three in a row to the first-place Charleston River Dogs. They'll finish out the series tonight at 7:05 with lefty Jeff Locke on the hill. Rome is 4-7 on the season, six games back of the red hot River Dogs in the Sally League's Southern Division.
