Minor League Preview - April 23

Here is Wednesday's schedule around the Braves' minor league system.


The Braves will try to play a game today. It's been a while. They were off yesterday, and they had three straight games rained out in Richmond against the Charlotte Knights. So they'll try again tonight in Norfolk at 7:15 with Charlie Morton (1-0, 1.69) on the mound. The Braves are 11-6 on the season, three games up on Charlotte in the International League's South Division.


The Braves go for their third win in a row today when they wrap up the five-game series against Huntsville at 12:00 ET. Mississippi sends Dustin Evans to the mound against Stars' starter Sam Narron. The two-game winning streak has the record up to 4-15, but the Braves are still seven games out of first place in the Southern League's South Division.


The Pelicans take on Lynchburg tonight at 7:05 at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach. Gonzalo Lopez (0-2, 4.61) will pitch for the Pelicans against Hillcats' lefty Daniel Moskos (2-0, 2.81). Outfielder Gorkys Hernandez remains day-to-day after getting hit in the wrist Monday night. The Pelicans are 10-9, a half game back of Salem in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


Rome has will try for victory number four in a row when they take on Columbus tonight at 7:00. Lefty Chad Rodgers (1-3, 5.11) gets his second start of the season as he takes the hill against the Catfish. Rodgers started against Columbus on April 9th and gave up only one earned run in 5.2 innings. The Braves are 8-11, eight games back in the Sally League's Southern Division.
