Minor League Preview - July 2

Here is today's minor league schedule in the Braves' organization.


Richmond takes on Norfolk in game two of the series. Game time is 7:15. Damian Moss (3-7, 4.86) is schedule to go for the Braves, who have lost four in a row and are 39-47. Richmond is now eight games out of first place behind the Durham Bulls.


It's game four of the series in Montgomery tonight for the Mississippi Braves, who have lost three in a row and are now 9-5 in the second half. The Braves are still in first place, a game up on Birmingham. Kris Medlen will make his sixth start of the season for the Braves. Last time out Medlen pitched six scoreless innings and did not walk a batter but struck out eight hitters. As a starter, Medlen is 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA, 19 hits allowed in 24 innings, six walks, and 22 strikeouts.


The Pelicans open up a three-game series in Potomac this evening starting at 7:05. Ryne Reynoso will go for his seventh win of the season for Myrtle Beach. Reynoso has a 3.51 ERA and has struck out 71 in 82 innings. The Pelicans are 6-6 in the second half, two games out of first place in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


The Braves are off Wednesday. They start a four-game series in Asheville Thursday night at 7:05. Edgar Osuna will be scheduled to go for the Braves. He's not talked about as much as the Jeff Lockes and Cole Rohrboughs of the world, but Osuna has a 3.39 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 58.1 innings. Rome is 7-6 in the second half of the season, three games out of first place.


Danville takes on Burlington at Dan Daniel Memorial Park tonight at 7:00. The Braves are 12-3 on the season, 4.5 games up on Pulaski in the Appalachian League's Eastern Division. Burlington has lost eight games in a row and are only 1-13 on the year.


The GCL Braves host the GCL Tigers this afternoon at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The Baby Braves are 6-5 on the season, two games out of first place in the GCL North Division.
