Johnson placed on the disabled list

The Braves have sent struggling second baseman Kelly Johnson to the disabled list.

Kelly Johnson, who was demoted earlier this week as the Braves' starting second baseman, is now on the disabled list with a tendinitis in his right wrist.

Johnson is hitting .214 on the season with 5 home runs and 20 RBI in 234 at bats. He pinch hit Thursday night and got out.

The Braves inserted Martin Prado in as the starting second baseman after Johnson hit .125 in the month of June. It was his worst month as a starter in the big leagues.

Brooks Conrad was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to replace Johnson on the roster. Conrad was hitting .259 on the season, with nine home runs. He was recently named to the International League's All-Star team.
