Braves sign OF Alex Romero for AA

The Braves have added a major league veteran to play in Double-A this season. The Atlanta Baseball Show's Bill Shanks has more.

The Braves have signed former Arizona outfielder Alex Romero to play for the Double-A Mississippi Braves.

Romero had been in big league camp with the Houston Astros, but was released on March 17.

Last season for Arizona Romero had a .248 batting average with 1 home run and 18 RBI in 145 at bats. He made his major league debut with Arizona in 2008, when he hit .230 in 135 at bats.

Romero, a left-handed hitter, is 26 years old. He can play all three outfield positions. He'll mainly see time in center field, with Cody Johnson playing left for Mississippi and Concepcion Rodriguez playing in right field. Willie Cabrera is also expected to get playing time.
