James Ramsey Profile
Though James Ramsey appeared to be ready for Triple-A, the logjam of outfield talent at the upper levels of the St. Louis Cardinals organization required the 2012 first-round draft pick to return to Double-A Springfield to open the 2014 season.
The 24-year-old, a non-roster invitee to major league camp this spring, has let his bat do his talking in the early going this season. In recognition of his results over the period of April 3-13, Ramsey has been named the Texas League Player of the Week.
The left-handed batter had hits in nine of 10 games, including five multi-hit contests. Ramsey has 16 hits, including eight for extra bases, four of which were home runs. He scored 10 and drove in 11. His line is a robust .410/.477/.846/1.323.
Interestingly, exactly one year ago, Ramsey was returned to A-Advanced Palm Beach to start last season and had a similar start which led to him being named the first Florida State League Player of the Week for 2013. Shortly after, Ramsey was promoted to Springfield.
