Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 11/19/10

Tony Cruz drives in one run for Player of the Day honors. Zack Cox reaches base twice in the AFL finale. Ruben Gotay takes on two walks and scores one run in Puerto Rico.

Arizona Fall League

 

Zack Cox (GCL-Surprise) started at third base and batted fourth. 1-for-2 with one walk and one strikeout.

Tony Cruz (Springfield-Surprise) started as designated hitter and batted fifth.  1-for-3 with one two-out RBI and one strikeout.

 

Surprise and Phoenix tied 3-3

Surprise finished the 2010 AFL campaign with a 17-12-3 record, 2.5 games out of first place in the West Division.

The Yankees signed right-handed pitcher Jose Rafael DePaula according to Sports Illustrated's Melissa Segura.  The 20-year old had been suspended for a year for false identity and the Yankees could look to push for his visa to get him into the states as soon as possible.
