Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 12/18/10

Tyler Greene has signed on to play with Aguilas in the Dominican League. Amaury Cazana singles, doubles, and drives in one run in the LMP for Player of the Day honors. Romulo Ruiz knocks in one run and Jose Martinez connects for two hits in the Venezuelan Parallel League. Former Cardinal Hector Luna claims the Dominican League batting title.

Mexican Pacific League

 

Amaury Cazana (Memphis-Culiacan) started in right field and batted sixth.  2-for-4 with one double, one RBI, two runs, and one strikeout.

 

Culiacan beat Navojoa 13-4

Dan Serafini (Former Memphis-Mochis) started and pitched 6.1 innings.  He allowed seven hits, five earned runs, two home runs, three walks, and struck five out for the losing decision (5-2). (g/f:7-4)

Jose Martinez (Springfield-Aragua) started as designated hitter and batted third. 2-for-3 at the plate.

Wilfred Vivas (GCL-Aragua) started in centerfield and batted seventh.  0-for-2 with one strikeout.

 

Zulia beat Aragua 3-0

 

Breyvic Valera (VSL-Margarita) entered late in the game at first base and batted fifth.  0-for-1 with on strikeout.

 

Margarita beat Philadelphia 8-4

 

Alberto Rivero (Former GCL-Lara) started in centerfield and batted third.  0-for-1 with one RBI, one walk, and one sac fly.

 

Detroit beat Lara 6-2

 

Johnny Celis (Former MiLB Tryout-Tiburones) started in right field and batted fifth. 2-for-3 with two runs and one walk.

 

Tiburones beat Seattle 8-2

 

 

Dominican League

 

All games were cancelled as players walked out.  Players boycotted the league on Friday for suspending a player named Wilkins Arias (Yankees-Aguilas) after he participated in a game without being on the roster.  ESPN Deportes

Jeffrey Dominguez (Mariners Free Agent-Carolina) started at third base and batted seventh.  2-for-4, one fielding error, and assisted in one double play.

Robinson Cancel (Former Memphis-Ponce) started at catcher and batted fifth.  2-for-3 with one double, one run, one sacrifice, and allowed three stolen bases.
