Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 01/05/11

Amaury Cazana collects two hits and scores one run to help Culiacan get within one run of sweep and earns Player of the day honors. Former Cardinal Brian Barden drives in one run and former MiLB Iker Franco connects for a solo homer in the LMP. Pedro Feliz knocks in one run in the Dominican. Hector Luna and Abraham Nunez find new homes for 2011.

Mexican Pacific League Playoffs

 

Amaury Cazana (Memphis-Culiacan) started in right field and batted third.  2-for-4 with one run and one strikeout.

 

Brian Barden (Former St. Louis-Mazatlan) started at second base and batted ninth. 2-for-4 with one RBI, grounded into one double play, and assisted in one double play.

Notes:

Dominican scout Victor Baez has been arrested and charged with fraud.  He represented Victor Moreno (Padres) and Hector Veloz (Orioles), who both didn't pass drug tests during the past summer.  ESPN Deportes  more on the charges: ESPN Deportes

 

The Red Sox have signed Hector Luna (Former St. Louis-Aguilas/Escogido) to a minor league deal, according to Fox Sports' Jon Morosi.
