Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 01/07/11

Tyler Greene collects a single, double, and drives in one run in the LVBP for Player of the Day honors. Former MiLB Iker Franco scores two runs as the next round of the LMP playoffs is set. Ex-Cardinal Felix Jose to be honored in Dominican. Ricky Martinez and former MiLB Jose Calero debut in LNBP with opposite results. Ex-MiLB Chad Gabriel hit a two-run homer in ABL.

Mochis beat Guasave 6-4

Iker Franco (Former Springfield-Obregon) started at catcher and batted sixth.  1-for-3 with two runs and one walk.

Hugo Castellanos (Former Memphis-Obregon) entered in the seventh and pitched to two batters.  He allowed one hit, one earned run, and one home run for the hold (2). (g/f:0-1)


Obregon beat Hermosillo 7-2

Obregon knocks Hermosillo out of the playoffs taking four of five games.  Both Mochis and Guasave also advanced since each won two games and Hermosillo only managed one.

Venezuelan League Round Robin


Tyler Greene (St. Louis-Aragua) started at shortstop and batted seventh.  2-for-4 with one double, one two-out RBI, and one fielding error.

Jose Rada (Quad Cities-Aragua) entered in the sixth and pitched to one batter, walking him. (ir-s:1-0)


Renyel Pinto (Former Memphis-Caribes) entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, one walk, threw one wild pitch, and struck one out for the hold (1). (g/f:1-1)
