Interview: Cardinals Farm Director John Vuch

Brian Walton's one-on-one interview with the leader of the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system plus bonus Winter Warm-Up presentation audio.

John Vuch is a very busy man these days as he prepares for the 2011 season, his first since being named the farm director of the St. Louis Cardinals. Last week, he was kind enough to sit down with me to answer a number of questions about plans and players.

A number of these questions were posed by readers on our Insiders message board. If you haven't already checked out our subscriber-only forum, please do.

Among the topics Vuch discussed are the new early camp for selected minor leaguers, projected roles and levels for key prospects, potential position changes, injury status of a number of players and much more.

As part of Winter Warm-Up, Vuch also hosted a session for the general public. Because I conducted my interview afterward, I did not duplicate any of the topics already discussed in the big group.

While some of the audience questions were fairly basic, there are some interesting subjects covered during the hour-long session, as well. Among those in the room with Vuch were newly-promoted Assistant General Manager Mike Girsch and Director of Amateur Draft Analysis Sig Mejdal. The full audio is included for your listening convenience.
