The second Quad Cities club listed below indicates those players currently not projected to be ready to make a full-season team. They would instead remain behind in Extended Spring Training camp. (42 additional players will join them in EST, which begins on April 6.) However, remember that these assignments are still written in pencil, not ink. They can and will change between now and when camp breaks next Monday, April 4.
157 players are listed below. With the major league roster set, no further additions are expected. As noted elsewhere on the site, tryout left-hander Sean Watson has been offered a contract and will sign before camp ends.
Despite a dozen releases over the last week, 13 players previously separated out on the rehab list have now been melded into the regular rosters by the Cardinals. I have chosen to denote them with an (I) after their names. Be aware that this is a non-official designation. These players are at least candidates to open the season on the disabled list, representing one vehicle to help ease the roster decisions.
The status of some players, like Springfield's Scott Gorgen, recovering from Tommy John surgery, are very clear, while others may or may not be deemed ready to go. For details on the previous rehabbers, refer to "Cardinals Minor League Medical Report – 3/16". Since then, Springfield starter Scott McGregor has also been slowed in recent days.
Note that when filtering out the (I) players, the Memphis and Springfield rotations and bullpens appear to be just about set. Many of the remaining decisions seem to be related to paring down the pitchers at the lower levels, especially the relievers, though there are at least some numbers problems everywhere.
Even with six-man rotations planned for Palm Beach and Quad Cities, further releases and/or moves to the right of the page and ultimately onto the QC #2 roster will need to be made to get down to the opening day roster limits. Rather than wait for big cut-down days, the Cardinals are continuing to release players immediately if they are deemed to be non-competitive.

Update: An organization official has told Derrick Goold of the Post-Dispatch that Carlos Martinez will likely remain behind in Extended Spring Training - another reminder that these designations remain fluid.
