Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 04/17/11

Home runs by Mark Hamilton, Tony Cruz and Nick Stavinoha were not enough as Memphis' skid extends to five games. Matt Adams homers and drives in five as Springfield splits doubleheader. Zack Cox knocks in two and Phil Cerreto plates the game-winner for Palm Beach in the tenth. Quad Cities sees snow and postpones another day.

Iowa beat Memphis 4-3

 

Individual Highlights:

Pete Kozma 1-for-4 with one double, two strikeouts, and assisted in three double plays.

Nick Stavinoha 1-for-4 with one home run, one RBI, one run, and one strikeout.

Mark Hamilton 1-for-3 with one home run, one RBI, one run, one walk, one strikeout, and assisted in two double plays.

Tony Cruz 2-for-3 with one home run, one two-out RBI, one run, one walk, assisted in one double play, and threw one runner out.

Rich Rundles entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck two out. (p-s:11-7)(g/f:1-0)

 

Rough Outing:

Daryl Jones 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Adron Chambers 0-for-3 with one sacrifice and one strikeout.

Notes:

Xavier Scruggs has been taking grounders and Kevin Thomas should be a go for Monday's start.  David Kopp is being held on the sidelines until he can handle an 80-pitch outing. He could possibly be activated in 2-3 weeks.  Springfield News-Leader
