Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 04/25/11

Jim Rapoport and Adron Chambers hit solo homers, Matt Carpenter hit a two-run jack, and Brandon Dickson struck out six over seven solid innings to help Memphis earn their second straight win. Poor starting pitching sent Palm Beach to second consecutive loss, but not before the relievers toss 7 1/3 scoreless innings. Springfield and Quad Cities both had the day off.

Memphis beat Iowa 7-1

 

Individual Highlights:

Jim Rapoport 2-for-3 with one home run, one RBI, one run, and one walk.

Pete Kozma 2-for-4 with one two-out RBI and one run.

Matt Carpenter 1-for-3 with one home run, two two-out RBIs, two runs, one walk, and one strikeout.

Tony Cruz 1-for-4 with one RBI and two strikeouts.

Adron Chambers 2-for-4 with one home run, one RBI, one run, and one strikeout.

Brandon Dickson started and pitched seven innings.  He allowed three hits, one earned run, three walks, and struck six out for the winning decision (1-2).  0-for-3 with two strikeouts at the plate. (p-s:97-67)(g/f:11-4)

Chuckie Fick entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck three out. (p-s:23-16)

Blake King entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, one walk, and struck two out. (p-s:19-10)(g/f:0-1)

 

Rough Outing:

Nick Stavinoha 0-for-4 with one strikeout and one missed catch error.

Daniel Calhoun entered in the first and pitched to two batters.  He allowed one hit and no runs. (ir-s:1-0)

Aaron Terry entered in the second and pitched two innings.  He allowed two hits, no runs, and two walks. (g/f:6-1)

Tyler Lyons entered in the fourth and pitched two innings.  He allowed two hits, no runs, two walks, and struck two out. (g/f:0-1)

Jorge Rondon entered in the seventh and pitched three innings.  He allowed two hits, no runs, and struck three out. (g/f:3-2)

Rainel Rosario 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Phil Cerreto 0-for-4 at the plate.

Domnit Bolivar 0-for-3 with one strikeout.
