Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 04/26/11

Nick Stavinoha, Ramon Vazquez each drove in three runs but pitching let Memphis down to end two-game winning streak. Springfield was rained out. Zack Cox knocked in only Palm Beach run as pitching struggled in third straight loss. Kevin Siegrist struck out eight over seven scoreless, Nick Longmire drove in two as Quad Cities won second in a row.

Iowa beat Memphis 12-8

 

Individual Highlights:

Jim Rapoport 1-for-4 with two runs and one walk.

Pete Kozma 2-for-4 with one RBI, one run, and one hit by pitch.

Nick Stavinoha 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, two runs, one run, grounded into one double play, and one caught stealing.

Freddie Bynum 2-for-3 with one triple, two runs, and two walks.

Matt Carpenter 0-for-3 with two walks and grounded into one double play.

Ramon Vazquez 2-for-4 with one double, three RBIs (two w/two-outs), one strikeout, and was ejected in the seventh.

Cory Rauschenberger entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck one out. (p-s:9-6)(g/f:0-2)

 

Rough Outing:

Raul Valdes started and pitched five innings.  He allowed eight hits, five earned runs, two home runs, and struck four out.  0-for-2 with two strikeouts at the plate. (p-s:87-58)(g/f:4-5)

Pete Parise entered in the sixth and pitched six batters.  He allowed three hits, four earned runs, and two walks for the blown save (1) and losing decision (0-1). (p-s:24-13)(g/f:0-1)

Rich Rundles entered in the sixth and pitched to two batters.  He allowed no hits or runs. (p-s:6-6)(g/f:1-1)(ir-s:2-1)

Jason Buursma entered in the seventh and pitched two innings.  He allowed four hits, three earned runs, one walk, and struck one out. (p-s:39-24)(g/f:1-4)
