Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 06/07/11

Nick Stavinoha homers and drives in four, Andrew Brown adds another three, Donovan Solano collects five hits and two RBI, and Brandon Dickson strikes out eight over seven innings and knocks in one as Memphis takes their third straight win. Kevin Thomas knocked out quickly and Domnit Bolivar drives in only run as Springfield is handed second consecutive loss. All other clubs were off.

Draft Notes

 

Kolten Wong played in 38 games last summer for the Orleans Firebirds, where he was selected as 2010 Cape Cod League MVP.  He went 46-for-135 (341) with six doubles, three home runs, 11 RBIs, 19 runs, 18 walks, two hit by pitches, 22 stolen bases, 13 strikeouts, seven caught stealing, grounded into two doubles, and committed four errors.

 

The Cape Cod League opens their 2011 season on Friday, June 10th.

Nick Stavinoha 3-for-5 with one home run, four two-out RBIs, two runs, grounded into one double play, and assisted in two double plays.

Aaron Luna 1-for-5 with one two-out RBI and one run.

Jose Garcia 1-for-5 with one two-out RBI, one run, and assisted in two double plays.

Donovan Solano 5-for-5 with two doubles, two two-out RBIs, and two runs.

Brandon Dickson started and pitched seven innings.  He allowed five hits, one earned run, one home run, one walk, struck eight out, and picked one runner off for the winning decision (3-6).  1-for-3 with one RBI, one run, one sacrifice, and one strikeout at the plate. (p-s:99-67)(g/f:6-3)

 

Rough Outing:

Brian Broderick entered in the eighth and pitched two innings.  He allowed two hits, one earned run, and one walk. (p-s:35-23)(g/f:4-0)

Brian Esposito entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck one out.  0-for-1 at the plate. (p-s:7-7)

Matt Adams will miss roughly two weeks dealing with a lingering left oblique strain says farm director John Vuch.
