LSU junior Mikie Mahtook was named a first-team All-American by Baseball America today, giving the Tigers a third player in four years to be honored.
Mahtook batted .383 with 14 home runs, five triples, 29 stolen bases, 61 runs scored and 56 RBIs -- leading LSU and ranking among the SEC's top five in all categories.
He was also named first-team All-SEC and was named to the league's all-defensive team.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's All-America teams were also released Wednesday and Mahtook was tabbed second team.
Earlier this month, the Tampa Bay Rays picked Mahtook with the 31st pick of the first rouns in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft.
