Home Run Derby Recap from the Bandits:

"Cedar Rapids Kernel Travis Witherspoon who is tied for second in the Midwest League in stolen bases with 31, took home tonight's Home Run Derby crown on the last pitch he saw.

Trailing by four points with one pitch to go, Witherspoon took the last pitch he saw and drove it to center field on a "walk off" to win the Home Run Derby. A ball normally worth five points was doubled in value on the final swing. Witherspoon scored 52 points in the final round, besting Fort Wayne's Jake Blackwood 52-49.

In the first round of the derby along with Witherspoon and Blackwood, Easterners Marcus Knecht (Lansing), Derek Dietrich (Bowling Green) and Westerners Greg Rohan (Peoria) and Daniel Ortiz (Beloit) made it out of the first round and into the second.

In round two, Blackwood and Witherspoon each bested the four other contestants. Blackwood hit a derby high 109 points in the second round. Witherspoon scored 62 points in the second round to allow him to advance to the final round, where he bested Blackwood."
