The system went 3-4 on Sunday as Johnson City's Roberto De La Cruz hit two homers and drove in five.

Redbirds starter Brian Broderick dominated the Cubs through the first seven innings allowing only four hits and three walks while fanning three. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Adron Chambers singled, doubled and scored. Left fielder Allen Craig, Matt Carpenter and Freddie Bynum each singled, walked, scored and drove in one.

The Cardinals' five-game winning streak ended. Joe Kelly allowed four runs, three earned, over six innings, lowering his Double-A ERA to 6.52. Jeff Lyman allowed the visitors to double their scoring in the seventh. Jose Garcia plated the only Springfield run on a solo homer.
