Cardinals Major League Notebook: 08/21/11

The offense was missing as the Cubs defeated the Cardinals once again on Saturday afternoon.

The St. Louis Cardinals managed just five hits against Chicago Cubs starter Matt Garza and fanned eight times in seven innings, failing to cross the plate on Saturday afternoon. The Cubs prevailed by a 3-0 score.

Aramis Ramirez' two-run home run in the fourth inning off Cards starter Edwin Jackson proved to be the big blow in the game. In five starts with St. Louis, Jackson is 2-2 with a 4.45 ERA.

The Cardinals fell to 1-4 on their road trip to Pittsburgh and Chicago and have fallen 8 ½ games behind Milwaukee in the National League Central Division race. They are also 8 ½ games back for the Wild Card.
