We're back with our daily report with all the news about St. Louis Cardinals major and minor leaguers, past and present, playing ball this fall and winter all over the globe.

In this report: Matt Adams drives in three runs and Ryan Jackson adds another as Peoria falls in Arizona Fall League play. Chuckie Fick sees his first action in the World Cup with a hitless/scoreless appearance. Former players Curt Smith and Joe Thurston are tearing through the World Cup. Curt Smith (former Springfield-Netherlands) started at first base and batted fourth.  1-for-3 with one ground into double play.

 

Netherlands beat Chinese Taipei 2-1

 

Edgard Montiel (former DSL-Nicaragua) started at third base and batted seventh.  0-for-3 with one strikeout.

 

Nicaragua beat Germany 5-4

 

Tony Granadillo (former New Jersey-Venezuela) started at third base and batted fifth.  1-for-4 with one run and two strikeouts.

Jonathan Sivira (former Quad Cities-Venezuela) started in centerfield and batted ninth.  2-for-4 with one double, two RBIs, one strikeout, and one caught stealing.

 

Venezuela beat South Korea 5-4

 

Juan Richardson (former Springfield-Dominican Republic) started at third base and batted seventh.  0-for-3 with one RBI, one sac fly, and two strikeouts.

Danilo Sanchez (former Springfield-Dominican Republic) started and catcher and batted eighth.  0-doe-2 with one run, one walk, one hit by pitch, and threw one runner out.

 

Dominican Republic beat Italy 7-0

 

 

Monday's Results:

 

Curt Smith (former Springfield-Netherlands) started at first base and batted fourth.  3-for-3 with one double, one home run, three RBIs, four runs, and one hit by pitch.

 

Netherlands beat Greece 19-0

 

Juan Richardson (former Springfield-Dominican Republic) started at third base and batted seventh.  1-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Danilo Sanchez (former Springfield-Dominican Republic) started at catcher and batted eighth. 

 

Cuba beat Dominican Republic 3-0

 

Joe Thurston (former St. Louis-USA) started at second base and batted second.  2-for-5 with two RBIs, one walk, and one stolen base.

Chuckie Fick (Memphis-USA) entered in the seventh and pitched 1.1 innings.  He allowed no hits or runs. (g/f:3-1)

Royce Ring (former Memphis-USA) entered in the eighth and pitched to two batters.  He allowed no hits or runs and struck one out. (g/f:1-0)

Ryan Jackson (Springfield-Peoria) entered in the seventh at shortstop and batted leadoff.  1-for-1 with one two-out RBI.

Matt Adams (Springfield-Peoria) started at first base and batted fourth.  3-for-5 with one double, three RBIs (one w/two-outs), three runs, one stolen base, and assisted in two double plays.

Oscar Taveras (Quad Cities-Peoria) started in right field and batted eighth.  1-for-5 at the plate.

Keith Butler (Palm Beach-Peoria) entered in the seventh and pitched to six batters.  He allowed no hits, four earned runs, and four walks for the hold (1) and losing decision (0-1).  (p-s:24-5)(g/f:1-1)(ir-s:2-0)
