Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 10/19/11

Jose Rada strikes out five over 2 1/3 scoreless innings and Richard Castillo strikes out three over two innings in Venezuela. Matt Adams hits a two-run homer and Keith Butler holds three on in Arizona. Kevin Moscatel singles, doubles, and collects two RBI in Parallel League play. Chris Swauger discloses his winter plans.

Team USA has been practicing at Armando Reynoso Gutierrez Stadium in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico for the upcoming Pan American games.  They open against the Dominican Republic on Thursday @ 3:00 PM ET.

 

 

Arizona Fall League

 

Matt Adams (Springfield-Peoria) started at first base and batted fourth.  1-for-4 with one home run, two RBIs, one run, two strikeouts, and one fielding error.

Ryan Jackson (Springfield-Peoria) started as designated hitter and batted fifth.  0-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts.

Justin Wright (Palm Beach-Peoria) entered in the eighth and pitched to five batters.  He allowed no hits or runs, three walks, and struck one out. (p-s:21-4)(g/f:0-1)

Keith Butler (Palm Beach-Peoria) entered in the eighth and pitched to one batter.  He allowed no hits or runs. (p-s:3-2)(ir-s:3-0)

The country has formed a new league in an attempt to get back into the Caribbean Series.  The league held a draft in August in which two current and one former Cardinals farmhand were selected.  The league is expected to begin on October 21st. Enazuero
