Cardinals Winter Warm-Up Audio: Saturday 1/14

Press interviews from the St. Louis Cardinals Winter Warm-Up on Saturday, January 14.

Following are selected interviews held at the St. Louis Cardinals Winter Warm-Up at the Hyatt Regency at the Arch on Saturday, January 14, 2012.

Note: Chris Carpenter's interview from Saturday was inadvertently left out, but is added now.

Our first interview of the day was with prospect Zack Cox and we ended with co-ace Adam Wainwright. In between were many very interesting comments. (Additional photos can be seen at The Cardinal Nation Blog.(

Zack Cox
The third baseman is focused on trying to improve in all aspects of his game.

Rafael Furcal
The shortstop begins this segment discussing the loss of Albert Pujols, his "big bro." Furcal says he would like to steal bases and should have more opportunity since he is not a .200 hitter and declares he would like to keep his number.

John Mozeliak
The GM shows a bit of an edge discussing Yadier Molina's no-show at Winter Warm-Up as well as Jeff Luhnow's raiding of Cardinals staffers in Houston. He wisely leaves the door open for more free agent signings and/or trades and speaks highly of Tyler Greene, among others.

Jordan Swagerty
The pitcher makes it clear he is fine with either starting or relieving.

Ryan Jackson
Jackson highlights his invitation to big league camp and his improvement last season, including in the Arizona Fall League.

Lance Lynn, Tyler Greene
A noticeably thinner Lynn and seemingly lighter-stepping Greene discuss preparation for 2012. Greene was not aware that Mozeliak had thrust him into the middle of the second base competition.

Adam Wainwright
The recovering hurler discusses his rehab, makes some pointed comments about the Pujols situation and dives into great detail about his admiration of Tim Tebow.
