Cards on FOX Sports Midwest during Feb-March

Satisfy your St. Louis Cardinals baseball cravings with spring programming on FOX Sports Midwest. Five weeks of Monday specials from the television home of the Cardinals begin on February 20.

As the St. Louis Cardinals players are filtering into spring training camp in Jupiter, Fla., the television home of the Cardinals, FOX Sports Midwest, is preparing for the 2012 season as well with spring game telecasts and an interesting slate of pre-season specials.

Tucked into Thursday's formal announcement of the Cardinals spring training television schedule - information we had highlighted at The Cardinal Nation Blog earlier this week – there was a Cardinals-related spring training announcement especially worth highlighting.

First, the basics. As announced, FOX Sports Midwest's core programming consists of five spring games to be televised, up from three in 2011. The Grapefruit League spring training games are March 17 at Detroit (perhaps with their new spring assistant Tony La Russa in the house), March 19 at Atlanta, March 20 at Houston, March 22 vs. Washington and March 24 at the New York Mets. Each game will be carried live at noon Central and replayed later that evening during prime time.

Here, I want to call special attention to FOX Sports Midwest's new Cardinals programming planned for the next five consecutive Mondays in February and March. It kicks off with a 30-minute special on Monday, February 20 that chronicles the World Series champions' visit to the White House last month and their meeting with The President and First Lady.

Subsequent Monday night shows include La Russa's Championship Insights, a one hour special with the highlights of the manager's insight on the 2011 post-season with emcee Bob Costas.

Other specials include roundtable discussions with Cardinals Hall of Famers and 1980's stars. Each show will also be offered via replays in case you miss them the first time or forget to set up the DVR.

FOX Sports Midwest also has plans to produce a spring training report in early March, as well as a 2012 Cardinals season preview. Encore presentations of the David Freese and La Russa shows that ran on Christmas will also return to the upcoming schedule.
