Springfield at Midland – not completed due to rain
Scott McGregor allowed just three hits and no runs through the first four innings. Springfield pushed a run across in the fifth as Jake Shaffer hit a solo home run to right, his second in as many days, to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. Before Midland could bat in the fifth, rain delayed the game for over an hour and half before the umpires deemed the field unfit for play and the game was cancelled. It will not be made up.

Lack of timely hitting doomed the Gulf Birds in their 3-1 home defeat at the hands of the GCL Nationals. The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak and is only the third defeat in the squad's last 18 contests.
The Cardinals out-hit the Nationals nine to seven but were 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. The team's only run, an unearned tally, came in the seventh with them already down 3-0. Amaury Capellan led off and reached base when he was struck by a pitch. A double by Rowan Wick and a fielding error during Daniel Barbuena's at bat loaded the bases. Kenny Peoples-Walls' sac fly with one out brought Capellan across. Barbuena went 2-for-4 and was the only Cardinal with a multi-hit game.
Our Player of the Day Fidencio Flores took the hard-luck loss, giving up an unearned run in the fourth and a solo shot in the sixth, his final inning of work. The right-hander yielded four hits and three walks while striking out three. Cole Brand allowed a run on three singles in the seventh. Javier Machuca and Norge Paredes each tossed a scoreless frame.

The Dominican Birds could not overcome a three-run first as they fell to the DSL Athletics 5-3 on the road.
Starter Dewin Perez (L, 1-3) fanned five in the first four innings in his first action since June 26th. The southpaw put only one runner on over his last three frames. Three of his four hits allowed came in the first along with a walk, two wild pitches, a balk and a sac fly that resulted in three runs, earned. Frederis Parra tossed the last four innings, yielding single tallies in the seventh and eighth on four hits and two walks in all.
The Cardinals out-hit the Athletics 10-7 but went a dismal 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position while stranding 12. Two runners crossed in the third with the team's final tally coming in the ninth. Designated hitter Jose Godoy drove in two runs on a single, his only hit, and a fielder's choice. Shortstop Eliezer Alvarez scored twice, going 1-for-4 with a walk. Third baseman Leobaldo Pina and right fielder Bladimil Franco each had two hits.
