Cards field coordinator Mark DeJohn speaks

The man leading on-field minor league operations for the St. Louis Cardinals on infielders, Dominican standouts and more.

In his 27 years in the St. Louis Cardinals system, minor league field coordinator Mark DeJohn has held many different responsibilities. They range from being a member of Tony La Russa's major league staff to a multi-league championship manager.

While his current responsibilities are much broader, I suspect is DeJohn's first love is infield instruction. Now in his 43nd year of professional baseball, "DJ" got his start as a second baseman who briefly reached the majors.

In this exclusive interview, the energetic DeJohn speaks about the six infielders taken among the Cardinals first 20 picks in the 2013 draft and how they are being integrated into the system. Having recently returned from a trip to the Cardinals Dominican Republic academy, DJ shares information on some of the youngsters who stood out there and more.

Upcoming interviews will include a multi-part series with scouting director Dan Kantrovitz.
