Interview: Patrick Wisdom is on the move

Just before his promotion, the 2012 first-round draft pick discussed his progress and challenges in his first 14 months as a professional.

St. Louis Cardinals farm head Gary LaRocque is with the Class-A Peoria Chiefs this week. Between he and manager Dann Bilardello, they apparently had great news to deliver to Patrick Wisdom on Tuesday night. The third baseman has been promoted to A-Advanced Palm Beach, reports Kevin Capie of the Peoria Journal Star.

Three weeks away from his 22nd birthday, Wisdom will be heading to the Florida State League for the first time. In the Midwest League all season to date, the right-handed hitter launched 13 home runs and drove in 62. His line was an uneven .231/.312/.411 in 372 at-bats over 104 games.

Just prior to his promotion, Wisdom spoke with me about his progress as well as his challenges since being selected 52nd overall in the 2012 draft.

Coming soon

Other Peoria interviews ahead include outfielder Charlie Tilson and pitcher Mike Mayers. Memphis, Springfield and St. Louis subjects will follow.
