Warner on Memphis' final month challenges

Pop Warner, skipper of the Memphis Redbirds, discusses his club's season to date and what is ahead.

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds, managed by Ron "Pop" Warner, are clearly in their home stretch. The problem is their home stretch will be played almost entirely on the road.

21 of the club's final 26 regular season contests will be played away from AutoZone Park. The good news is that the five home games will all be against the first-place Omaha StormChasers and Memphis is currently just 1 1/2 games behind the Royals affiliate. Even while the long season goes into its final month, Warner accepts the challenge and is encouraging his players to embrace it.

In the following interview, the manager discusses the 2013 overall – comparing recent play to the start of the season. Warner highlights a number of key players, including minor league veterans signed to augment the cadre of prospects on the Pacific Coast League club's roster, and much more.
