Derrick May on Cardinals short-season hitters

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league hitting coordinator discusses a number of offensive standouts from the short-season levels of play.

St. Louis Cardinals minor league hitting coordinator Derrick May was recently kind enough to give 20 minutes of his time to review the progress made by a number of hitters across the system this season.

In his role as a hitting coach rover, May has the unique opportunity to visit every level in the organization multiple times each season, so is a great source to gauge player improvement. Assisting the team hitting coach at each stop, May's objective is to help each young man realize his offensive potential.

In the following exclusive audio interview, the second of a two-part series, May picks up his review of some of the improving hitters from the four short-season clubs – from the New York-Penn League, Appalachian, Gulf Coast and Dominican Republic leagues.
