Salt River 7 vs. Mesa 3

James Ramsey had his best day of the Arizona Fall League season to help Salt River (9-9) down Mesa 7-3 at home.

Ramsey was nearly a one-man wrecking crew at the top of the order with four hits in five at bats, including three doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. The centerfielder set the table when he doubled to left in the first, advanced to third on a balk and raced home via a ground out for the first of the Rafters' two tallies that frame. He beat out a sharp ground ball single to first to open the third, eventually scoring on the third of his team's five singles in that stanza.

After being caught looking at strike three in the fourth, Ramsey came to the plate in the sixth with two on and knocked in Salt River's sixth score of the contest via a double to right. In his last at bat, he smashed a ground-rule double to right-center with one out in the eighth, crossing home via the second-half of back-to-back doubles to make the score 7-3.

Stephen Piscotty was a modest 1-for-5 with one driven in, batting clean up. The right fielder's first-inning ground out brought across his team's second tally. He smashed a hard liner directly at the left fielder for the second out in Salt River's three-run third and was left at first after singling to right in the fifth. Piscotty closed the very next frame by striking out swinging to leave the sacks jammed. He finished the night by lining out sharply to left for the final out in the eighth.

Starting at second base and batting second, Jacob Wilson went 2-for-4, with two RBI. He also fanned and grounded into a double play. On defense, Wilson participated in one twin killing.

Tampa Bay's Grayson Garvin shut down the Solar Sox on four hits and a base-on-balls over 4 2/3 to even his record to 2-2. The southpaw struck out four. Five Rafters hurlers followed Garvin to the mound, none of them from the St. Louis organization.

Wednesday's game: at first-place (West Division) Surprise (11-8-2), 1:35 pm CT, Sam Gaviglio (1-0, 7.10)
