Tuioti-Mariner re-sets up Big 10 visit

On team filled with stars, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive lineman Jacob Tuioti-Mariner can get overlooked but he's easily one of the region's top prospects.

Jacob Tuioti-Mariner is one of the top players for the Braves loaded program this year and his stock has elevated quite a bit. He has put on a solid 30 pounds since his junior season, gotten faster, more athletic and is among the top line recruits in the region.

Bosco's defense dominated a very good Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei squad last Friday shutting out the Monarchs 24-2 with the only points allowed coming on a safety.

"I have nothing but respect for Mater Dei and their offensive line," Tuioti-Mariner said following the game. "That's the most physical team we played all year and they definitely have the best line we played. They were physical and fast and just good all around, it was a very good win for us to beat those guys, they're a great team."

On the recruiting front, Tuioti-Mariner had a visit set for Wisconsin back in October but had to re-schedule it and how now locked in that trip.

"I'm going to Wisconsin for the Penn State game (Nov. 30)," Tuioti-Mariner said. "I had a family conflict last time but I'm excited to get out to Madison and check out the place. I've heard great things so it should be a good time for me.

"I have a trip set with Boise State too but can't remember the date. They have been with me from the beginning and I like them a lot. I'm setting a visit with Arizona as well and Fresno State is showing me a lot of love and I want to visit there as well.

"Colorado just offered last week and that's where my brother played. I've been there a few times and it's a beautiful place so there's a good chance I'll take a visit to Boulder as well."

Tuioti-Mariner said he's hearing more from the local schools, USC and UCLA as well.

"USC is showing a lot of interest," Tuioti-Mariner said. "I went to the Utah game and got to go in to the locker room after the game. I had a lot of fun there and like the coaches a lot. An offer from USC would be a huge blessing for me and my family.

"I'm hearing a little from UCLA too, but not as much as USC. I'm very interested UCLA for a lot of the same reasons I like USC. They're a local school with a good program so landing an offer from either school would be a huge blessing."
