Manager Mike Shildt on Cardinals AFL hitters

In the second of our 11 exclusive interviews from the Arizona Fall League, manager Mike Shildt discusses the St. Louis Cardinals hitters assigned to the Salt River Rafters.

The Arizona Fall League has been called Major League Baseball's "finishing school" by some. While two of the three position player prospects assigned by the St. Louis Cardinals to the AFL have excelled at Double-A, more work is required before they can make the final step.

That is really what the AFL is all about – continuing to make adjustments against a higher level of competition. Outfielders Stephen Piscotty and James Ramsey plus infielder Jacob Wilson are doing just that – under the watchful eye of Salt River manager Mike Shildt.

Shildt is shown with Ramsey (capless with sunglasses) and Piscotty in the Rafters dugout.

In the following photo, Shildt (right) addresses his Rafters players, including Piscotty and Wilson at the left. Minor league hitting coordinator Derrick May, in town for individual work with the Cardinals hitters, is at the far left.

In this exclusive interview, Shildt provides a general view of the fall campaign to date and then goes into a review of each of his Cardinals hitters.
