Adam Wainwright finished second in the balloting for the 2013 NL Cy Young Award, while teammates Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter were third and fourth, respectively, in the NL Most Valuable Player Award voting. All three were NL All-Stars. Wainwright and Molina won Gold Glove Awards while Carpenter and Molina were voted Silver Sluggers.
It was recently announced that the three will share an additional honor, the locally-focused J.G. Taylor Spink St. Louis Baseball Man of the Year Award. Molina and Wainwright are prior winners, with Carpenter a first-time honoree.
The St. Louis chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America will recognize the trio at the 56th annual St. Louis BBWAA Dinner, to be held on January 19, 2014. Further information about the event can be found at the St. Louis BBWAA website.
Recent winners of the annual award, first given out in 1959, include Molina in January 2013, Tony La Russa and John Mozeliak in 2012 with Wainwright and Albert Pujols having shared the honor at the 2011 dinner.
