Monday Baseball Fever cure by FOX Midwest

More than 16 hours of St. Louis Cardinals Opening Day coverage ahead on FOX Sports Midwest.

Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith's campaign to make Major League Baseball's Opening Day a national holiday has yet to come to its conclusion. Perhaps that is actually a good thing in 2014, with at least three different starts to the season, depending upon your view of last week's games in Australia and the Sunday night made-for-television contest in San Diego.

For St. Louis Cardinals fans, however, there is no doubt. As tradition would have it, the Senior Circuit's most important opener will be in the Queen City as the visiting Cards take on the Cincinnati Reds at 3:10 p.m. CT on Monday afternoon. Starting pitchers will be Adam Wainwright and Johnny Cueto.

In my opinion, there is no better day to catch Baseball Fever and call in sick than this one. To help viewers regain their health and prepare them for the first pitch, FOX Sports Midwest will air nine hours of pre-game coverage starting at 6:00 a.m. Next up will be the contest itself, followed by the Cardinals Live postgame show.

For those who missed it the first time, the opener will be replayed at 7:00 p.m. That will conclude more than 16 hours of Cardinals coverage on Monday.

Among the highlights will be the debut of the new Ballpark Village studio for the 2:00 p.m. Cardinals Live pregame show. From there, Pat Parris and Al Hrabosky will host both the pre- and postgame shows. Dan McLaughlin and Rick Horton will call the game action from Great American Ballpark, with Jim Hayes reporting.
