As noted in this earlier article, there were three waves of players that make up this year's EST contingent. The first group are those who did not make a full-season club and remained behind after minor league spring training camp. The second included all players who competed last season on any of the Cardinals US-based clubs, primarily Johnson City and the Gulf Coast League Cardinals.
The final group spent last season playing for the Dominican Summer League Cardinals. There are 14 players in that population. However, two had arrived earlier this spring – shortstop Edmundo Sosa and rehabbing catcher Sergio Ripoll. The other 12 players prepared for their US arrival by participating in a mini-camp at the Cardinals Dominican academy that began at the start of this month.
Here are the 14 by age and position. Most are expected to remain in the US and play on one of the short-season clubs. The GCL should be the most common, though not exclusive destination.

As many of these players are considered relative unknowns to the US fan base, Cardinals director of international operations Moises Rodriguez discusses a number of them in the following exclusive interview.
The team rosters here at The Cardinal Nation are as up-to-date for St. Louis and all four full-season clubs. All of these 14 players' histories can be found on the 2014 DSL Cardinals team roster page. To access all rosters, click on the words "MILB ROSTERS" on the red bar to the right of The Cardinal Nation site logo.
To see the Cardinals' entire system by level and position on one page along with every player transaction for every club all year long, check out the newly-refreshed Roster Matrix at The Cardinal Nation blog.
Be advised that in terms of roster classification, all 89 EST players will keep their 2013 team assignments here until officially assigned to a 2014 club.
