Results from games played Saturday, June 7th.
The Redbirds scored two in the bottom of the ninth but it was not enough to overcome their cross-state Milwaukee-affiliated rivals. Working his way back from shoulder surgery, John Gast yielded only one run on four hits in his five innings of work. Nick Greenwood was charged with the loss after allowing two runs in two innings of relief.
Stephen Piscotty singled three times to raise his average to .291. Greg Garcia had two hits in the Redbirds' leadoff spot. Both Mike O'Neill and Audry Perez had two hits from the bottom of the lineup. Perez is now hitting .313 this season.
Sunday's game: Memphis (30-32) vs. Nashville (34-29), 1:35 CST, Angel Castro (5-4, 3.92 ERA)
Returning starter Kurt Heyer pitched well enough to win but was let down by his offense and bullpen. Heyer exited after six innings have allowed three runs and striking out six. Logan Billbrough was roughed up for four runs in his only inning of relief. Mitch Harris pitched the final two innings and was tagged for four runs on five hits.
Sunday's game: Springfield (28-33) vs. Tulsa (34-26), 6:10 CST, Marco Gonzales (1-1, 2.86 ERA)
For the second straight night, the Cardinals won on a walk off hit. This time, Jimmy Bosco provided the heroics. Player of the Day Bosco finished the game with two hits, a stolen base and of course, an RBI. Batting .301 on the season, Charlie Tilson continues to rake with two singles and two runs scored.
Nick Petree lasted only 4 1/3 innings. The starter left after surrendering four runs on seven hits. Reliever Sam Tuivailala was dominant in two shutout innings. The right-hander struck out four but also walked three. Iden Nazario notched the win with a shutout final inning.
With the win, Palm Beach reached the .500 mark for the season.
Sunday's game: Palm Beach (31-31) at St. Lucie (35-27), 1:00 EST, Thomas Lee (4-3, 2.95 ERA)
Saturday night's game was postponed due to rain in the Davenport area. The game will be made up as part of a double header on Sunday.
The Cardinals gave up runs in the eighth and the ninth to fall to the Giants. Starter Will Changarotty allowed one run on three hits in four innings of work.
Franyel Casadilla was charged with the loss after yielding both Giants runs to end the game.
