Cards Activate Kolten Wong From Disabled List

Second baseman Kolten Wong returns to the St. Louis Cardinals as Shane Robinson is optioned out.

The St. Louis Cardinals optioned outfielder Shane Robinson to Triple-A Memphis following Saturday’s game and activated infielder Kolten Wong from the 15-day disabled list prior to Sunday’s contest.

Wong, 23, missed 13 games since June 21st with a left shoulder contusion. He started at second base in three rehab games at Triple-A Memphis, batting .455 (5-for-11) with a home run and three runs batted in.

Robinson, 29, appeared in eight games since his recall on June 22, making one start in right field, five pinch-hit appearances and two defensive substitutions. In 47 plate appearances this season with St. Louis, the right-handed hitter has a line of .140/.213/.209.
