Faced with a one game to two deficit in a best of five series, the Redbirds had to win at home on Saturday night. Unfortunately, the Storm Chasers offense would not be denied. Omaha put up one run in the top of the first and then plated four runs in the fifth to win the divisional series and end Memphis’ season.
Starter Mike Mayers took the loss after allowing all five runs and not being able to record an out in the deciding fourth inning. The final two runs came home while reliever Heath Wyatt was on the mound. David Aardsma recorded two shutout innings of relief.
At the plate, Memphis only managed five hits, went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine. Player of the Day Tommy Pham doubled, walked, and scored a run. Ed Easley singled, walked, and drove in a run.

Sunday’s game: State College (0-0) vs. Tri-City (0-0), 7:05 ET, Trey Nielsen (3-2, 2.50 ERA)
