Results from the game played Friday, October 17th.
Sam Tuivailala could not hold a ninth-inning lead, resulting in the Javelinas second tie in their last six games. Peoria (2-6-2) has not won in a week and sports the worst record in the Arizona Fall League.
Tuivailala entered with his team clinging to a 3-2 lead but blew the save opportunity, allowing a double, wild pitch and RBI single that sent the game into extras. He recorded two quick outs to kick off the 10th before loading the bases on a single sandwiched around two walks. A swinging K prevented further damage.
Chris Perry did not acquit himself much better in the sixth, giving up the Rafters’ second tally on a one-out single, back-to-back free passes and an RBI groundout. Perry retired two batters before being lifted.
C.J. McElroy, St. Louis’ sole representative in the line-up, was hitless in three at bats with a free pass and two strikeouts. The number nine hitter, batting .214 to date, worked a base-on-balls with two out in the seventh then promptly stole second, his third swipe of the fall campaign. A groundout to first finished the scoring opportunity for the left fielder.
Saturday’s game: vs. Scottsdale (5-5), Kyle Zimmer (KC) (0-0, 3.12)
