Results from the game played Saturday, October 18th.
It took 11 innings, but last-place Peoria (3-6-2) finally won a game, 4-3 over Scottsdale on Saturday.
Back-to-back doubles by designated hitter Edward Salcedo (ATL) and right fielder Jordan Smith (CLE) scored the tally off righty Colton Murray (PHI) (L, 0-2). The only out recorded by Murray was a soft groundout by Jacob Wilson. Wilson joined Salcedo and Smith with one hit during the game. The third baseman doubled once in four at bats with a free pass and two strikeouts.
Breyvic Valera, one of three Javelinas with two of the team’s 11 hits, singled twice in four at bats out of the lead-off slot. The first baseman singled in the first but was caught stealing, a move that likely cost his team a run that frame when the Scorpions’ starter later uncorked a wild pitch that advanced the remaining runners.
Braves right-hander Ryne Harper picked up his first win, facing the minimum in the 11th. Harper was the seventh Peoria hurler, none of them from St. Louis’ organization.
