Cards Arizona Fall League Notebook: 10/21/14

First baseman Cody Stanley plated one of two Peoria runs with a double in another Javelinas loss on Monday.

Results from the game played Monday, October 20th.

Salt River 4 at Peoria 2

The Rafters (8-3-1) scored two in the first and never looked back, downing the Javelinas 4-2.

Jaime Schultz (TB) (L, 0-3) had trouble finding the plate, yielding six bases-on-balls and a hit that translated into three runs, one earned, in 3 2/3. He fanned four.

Mitch Harris limited the damage, notching the fourth’s final out on a 5-3 groundout, stranding Schultz’ last two runners at the corners. The righty worked around consecutive singles to open the fifth via a line out, caught stealing and swinging K.

Cody Stanley manned first for Peoria (3-7-2) struck out on a foul tip and grounded out his first two at bats before contributing an RBI double in his team’s two-run sixth. The clean-up hitter flied out to left to end the eighth, leaving a runner at second.

Jacob Wilson popped out in foul ground in a one-two-three second, flew out to center and reached base in the seventh on a one-out single to third. The second baseman was subsequently forced before ending the game with a fly out to right.

Tuesday’s game: at Salt River, 12:35 pm MST, Aaron Northcraft (ATL) (1-1, 3.00)
